Bring and Buy – 4

BandB1The first Beaumont Teaching and Learning Bring and Buy of the year took place last Monday during lunchtime. Fiona Rosler organised the event and asked staff to send some of their tried-and-tested resources. Everyone who visited the Bring and Buy made a shopping list of resources to test out, and placed their Beaumont Buck next to their favourite resource. The resources available ranged from PE to Languages, from Art to Science and all subjects in between, and covered revision, differentiation, marking strategies and much more.

Congratulations to Helen Skelton who received the most Beaumont Bucks for her revision activities resource.

To see all of the resources from the Bring and Buy, either follow this link to Dropbox or visit our Bring and Buy resources page. You could also read more about our Bring and Buy format here.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, and look out for our next Bring and Buy in the Spring term.

Bring and Buy – 3. Revision Resources

bring and buy 3The appeal of the Teaching and Learning “Bring and Buy” doesn’t seem to fade. (read all about the format of the first one here). This time, Zoe Shepherd requested staff to send any useful revision resources they had used or created which could then be shared with the staff who popped along to Room 6 at lunchtime. The “Beaumont Buck” given to all staff in their pigeon-hole was placed in the envelope of their favourite resource of the day, and everyone who attended completed a shopping list of the resources which they would like emailed to them later.

Links to the resources shared are included here or in the resources section on the homepage.

Teaching and Learning Bring and Buy – 2

beaumont buckUsing the same “Bring and Buy” format we adopted in November 2014 (read all about it here), staff again popped along to Room 6 to look at resources created, found and shared by other staff from a range of subject areas. The “Beaumont Buck” given to all staff in their pigeon-hole was placed in the envelope of their favourite resource of the day, and everyone who attended completed a shopping list of the resources which they would like emailed to them later.

Links to the resources shared are included in the resources section on the homepage.

Teaching and Learning Bring and Buy

bring and buy 1With the Blue Peter theme tune playing in the background, Beaumont Teaching and Learning held one of its most successful lunchtime events on Wednesday 19 November. Nearly 50 staff came to the first Teaching and Learning Bring and Buy, and everyone picked up an idea for a resource which they could use in their own lessons, whatever subject or key stage they taught.

The format was simple:

1. Some staff brought along a resource they had used and put it on a table to display.

2. Teachers popped in to the event for as long as they wanted, collected a shopping list, and wrote the names of the resources they were interested in and handed in their list before leaving.

3. Every member of staff had previously been given a “Beaumont Buck” which they could put into the envelope laid out in front of their favourite resource at the event (we do like a bit of healthy competition, and the resource with the most bucks in its envelope won the person who had brought it a prize).

4. Following the event, later that day, all staff were emailed the resources they had requested.bring and buy 2

It was fun, simple and was a lovely way to share ideas without everyone feeling as if they had to “go to a meeting”.

The resources from the event had either been created by staff or adapted from ideas found on twitter or elsewhere. We have added links to the resources in our resources section on the homepage – why not have a look and see which is your favourite?

We will hold another Bring and Buy next term and we’re hoping that even more staff will want to share a simple idea from their lessons. And for the nostalgic amongst us – surely there’s someone who has found a need for some sticky backed plastic.

T&L Bring and Buy

By Zoe Shepherd

blue peter 1One of our new ideas for 2014/15 is going to be T& L Bring and Buys. Think Blue Peter. Perhaps you also have memories of Mark Curry in some crazy jumper telling us how many Bring and Buy sales there had been up and down the country and how much money had been raised.

Put this into the mind of the Beaumont Teaching and Learning Team and you end up with something a little different.

The Bring and Buys will take place at lunchtime, but whereas a Learning Lunch has a theme, you can bring anything to a Bring and Buy. A resource, a piece of student work, a sample of marking – anything goes.

Bring it along . Put it on one of the stalls that will be manned by the T&L team. Have a wander around the other stalls. Come and go as you please.  If you see something you like or would like to use, put your cipher on the sheet next to the resource. It can then be emailed or copied and delivered to your inbox or pigeon hole.

Chocolate money will be handed out so you can donate to your favourite idea or just eat the treat yourself!

Who Will Buy?who will buy

As well as bursting into a song from Oliver by Lionel Bart I hope that this will encourage you to pop along and share your ideas, examples and resources. See you all next term.
